At Disney’s annual shareholders meeting CEO Bob Iger was asked about a possible National Treasure 3 to which he responded, “[Jerry Bruckheimer] would like to make a third movie, and I know that discussions about that film have gone on, probably since 2016, with our studio. But I know they have not greenlit such a film.”

Director Jon Turteltaub said when asked about the possibility of a third movie, “It’s out there. And it’s got a bigger audience than the first one had when no one knew what the hell we were doing.”

Jon Turteltaub reiterated that a script for a possible third film was “close” but Disney still wasn’t completely sold by the idea.

Jerry Bruckheimer revealed that the script was already finished, but Disney was not satisfied with the story.

The Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger responded to a question regarding the third film, saying, “We have done two, and yes they were really fine movies. I know Jerry Bruckheimer who produced them has had conversations with our studio a number of times about it, and there have been some developments along the way, but as of right now we have not green-lit as we say, a National Treasure 3. But I do know there is time and some resources spent on development.”
